No alcohol for seven days
Today is my eight day of not drinking. So far so good, although I have cheated a little by not going out that much. Aside from a work colleague’s leaving drinks on Friday, I spent most of the weekend doing non-pub related stuff. Partly to avoid the temptation and partly as the weather was horrible and staying at home seemed like a better option.
Still, I’m quite please with myself - I even managed to get up at 8:30am on Saturday to go for a jog. I’ll get a proper exercise plan in place before the end of this month and post it up here. I’ve also managed not to smoke for the last six days.
Something I have noticed since I’ve not been drinking or smoking is that I’ve developed another craving - chocolate. I always had a bit of a sweet tooth but the last week it’s been especially bad. A friend who quit drinking earlier in the year said he’d heard that alcoholics who go into rehab often eat a lot of chocolate and a quick search on Google confirmed this. Chocolate is even recommended by the “Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book“, apparently.
So a good start to my mission. I’m off for a Cadbury’s Dairy Milk before I heading to the pub for a soda water.
